Mentor Programs

CARFAC SASK offers mentorship opportunities for Saskatchewan visual artists. These programs assist artists in their professional development and create opportunities for increased public exposure of their work.

CARFAC SASK has two mentorship programs. See below!

Visual artists must master many skills beyond making art in order to become self-sustaining professionals. Often, these skills and resources are best acquired through experience. A mentor, having established their own career, can pass along crucial knowledge, connections, and support.

The CARFAC SASK Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for Saskatchewan visual artists to work together in an informal peer learning, professional development framework, with experienced artists mentoring developing artists.

Mentors provide personalized support, training, advice, assessment, encouragement and feedback on a regular basis through group meetings, studio visits, regular critiques, etc. Mentees gain professional development, technical skills, and most importantly, the growth of self-esteem and confidence. Contracts are used for both mentors and mentees; mentors are paid a fee for each artist assigned to them; mentees are provided a materials allowance. Applications from potential mentees and mentors are welcomed in mid June each year.
