2007 Lieutenant Governor's Arts Awards
The Saskatchewan Arts Board's mission is to cultivate an environment in which the arts thrive for the benefit of everyone in Saskatchewan
The Lieutenant Governor's Arts Awards is an annual celebration to recognize the contribution and achievements made by individuals, groups and organizations to the arts. The awards will also promote public awareness, participation and support for the arts. Award recipients will receive an original piece of art work and a cash prize.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
This award is intended to acknowledge significant impact and outstanding contribution to the arts in Saskatchewan by individuals who have distinguished themselves through lifelong career achievements.
Criteria:
oTechnical and creative excellence.
oSignificant artistic achievement.
oRecognition by the nominee's peer group of meaningful contribution in his or her field of practice over the course of his or her career.
This award is open to individuals only. Posthumous nominations will be accepted. Previous Life Time Achievement Award nominees may contact the Saskatchewan Arts Board to have their nomination considered in the upcoming adjudication.
Ineligibility:
oSelf-nominations will not be considered, and awards in this category will not be granted to any individual more than once.
INNOVATION IN THE ARTS
This award recognizes innovative contributions made by Saskatchewan artists, individuals, arts educators, arts professionals and arts organizations.
Criteria:
oIntellectual achievement, uniqueness and originality in the arts through education, training, creation, production, presentation, touring and distribution, marketing, collection, appreciation, preservation, research and study.
oAchievement in support of the growing understanding, appreciation, and exploration of excellence in the arts.
oRecognition of meaningful contribution by the nominee's peer group.
oResidency in Saskatchewan for the previous 12 months.
This award is open to individual artists, arts professionals, arts groups and arts organizations.
30 BELOW
This award recognizes new and developing talented individuals who have earned significant recognition in his or her career and who, in the jury's opinion, show exceptional promise.
Criteria:
oImpact of the recipient's work within his or her peer group and local community.
oAchievement in the arts.
oNominees must be 30 years or under by the deadline date.
oResidency in Saskatchewan for the previous 12 months.
LEADERSHIP AWARD
This award acknowledges the commitment and demonstrated leadership of individuals, groups or organizations in the arts in Saskatchewan. The nominee will have a record of volunteer service that shows a genuine desire for community well-being as advanced through the arts. This may include contributions as a volunteer, philanthropist, mentor or advocate.
Criteria:
oSustained record of leadership in arts development.
oCommunity service in building a healthy arts community in Saskatchewan.
oResidency in Saskatchewan for the previous 12 months.
NOMINATION PROCEDURE
Individuals, groups or organizations wishing to make a nomination must forward a completed nomination form and all necessary support material to the Saskatchewan Arts Board by 4:30 p.m.Friday, February 16, 2007. Incomplete or late nominations will not be eligible.
SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
oNominations received are reviewed on receipt to confirm eligibility.
oOnly complete nominations submitted by the deadline date which meet the eligibility criteria will be considered by the jury.
oEligible nominations are evaluated by a jury of peers.
oThe Lifetime Achievement Award recipient will be announced prior to the ceremony.
oThe Saskatchewan Arts Board reserves the right not to allocate an award if the nominations submitted do not meet the criteria or if the jury does not choose to make an award.
