On Wednesday May 16 2007, after 2nd reading, Bill 68 - An Act respecting the Status of the Artist and Professional Relations between Artists and Engagers in Saskatchewan -went before the Human Services Committee. Normally, this would be the last step before the bill returned to the legislature for voting and Royal assent.  

The Bill failed to proceed.

CARFAC SASK finds it deeply troubling that after almost 20 years of consultation and debate in Saskatchewan on Status of the Artist issues, we have only the 2002 Act.

What will the future hold for us as artists in this province if we are unable to realize the legislative and regulatory tools necessary to our work, our status and our collective well-being ?
