The Pool Project

This exhibition is a celebration of Courtney Milne’s unique ability to capture the spiritual qualities of nature, light, colour, and texture. The show features 40 evocative colorphotographs of the surface of the artist’s outdoor swimming pool chosen from a huge body of work created over a ten year period. Milne described his pool photography as “anenchanted journey into the alchemy and rhythms of nature,” a project in which he created images to “both arouse the senses and reveal the transcendent.

Along with the photographs are 40 written poetic responses by a broad array of local and international personalities who were invited to reflect and comment on the images.Included are entries from Ovide Mercredi, Ann Mortifee, Sharon Butala, Yann Martel, and Lorne Calvert. The exhibition was organized by the Mendel Art Gallery.

Gallery Summer Hours: 1-5 pm Mon -Sat. Closed Sundays in July & August.
