Job Posting – Executive Director CARFAC SASK

CARFAC SASK’s long serving Executive Director, Patrick Close, will be returning to his studio practice later this year and we are seeking a new person for this challenging and rewarding position.

CARFAC SASK is seeking an experienced individual to lead our dynamic and highly respected non-profit arts service organization which has served Saskatchewan’s visual artists since 1983. The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of CARFAC SASK and is responsible for implementing and managing CARFAC SASK's policies, programs and services. Duties will begin September 1, 2011 and mentoring will be provided during a 3-4 month transition period.

Executive Director, CARFAC Saskatchewan Visual Artists

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of CARFAC SASK. The Executive Director is a full-time position, engaged by the Board of Directors and located in Regina, SK.

Under the authority of the Board of Directors, and acting within the parameters of the CARFAC SASK bylaws and contracts, the Executive Director is responsible for fulfilling, interpreting and implementing CARFAC SASK's policies, programs and services. The Executive Director reports to the CARFAC SASK Provincial Representative (president).

Compensation is based on a salary scale determined by the Board of Directors, and includes health and disability benefits package and an employer contributed RSP.

CARFAC SASK is a non-profit arts service organization serving Saskatchewan’s visual artists since 1983  (more information is available at www.carfac.sk.ca).

RESPONSIBILITIES

-         oversees the day-to-day operations of  CARFAC SASK

-         oversees the financial management of CARFAC SASK; provides financial  information and reports to the board regularly

-         researches, develops and delivers programs, strategies and services in accordance with CARFAC SASK’s mandate, goals and objectives

-         assists and advises the Board in the development, implementation and monitoring of  board initiatives, organizational policies and fiduciary responsibilities

-         advises and provides information to the board and members as required

-         attends and participates in board and/or committee meetings as required

-         hires and supervises staff and contract personnel

-         prepares applications for funding, reports and analysis as required for funding agencies

-         liaises with members, agencies, governments and the general public, as appropriate

-         informs members, agencies, governments, the general public and Board of pertinent matters through communication, as appropriate

-         maintains hours of operation for CARFAC SASK offices in Regina and Saskatoon


QUALIFICATIONS

-         practical knowledge and experience as a visual artist is essential

-         a commitment to the goals and objectives of CARFAC and CARFAC SASK

-         understanding of the dynamics of Saskatchewan’s cultural and artistic sector

-         strong organizational, financial and management skills

-         ability to set priorities, balance heavy workload, work under pressure

-         ability to prepare applications, reports and analysis

-         ability to work with a board of directors and a membership organization

-         excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-         experience as an effective advocate, public speaking ability

-         a calm and assertive nature... patient, diplomatic and effective

-         ability to resolve complex problems simply and effectively

-         proficiency in French will be an asset, but is not essential
